The first four international chefs that will take part in the fourth edition of Foodfest, the event organised in the Netherlands by Sergio Herman, Syrco Bakker and Iman Soomers were announced.
The event will be held on 2 and 3 June in Cadzand at the Martiem Plaza platform next to restaurant AIRrepublic.
Quique Dacosta of three Michelin star restaurant by the same name and Norbert Niederkofler will prepare an exclusive lunch and dinner at Pure C together with Sergio Herman and Syrco Bakker on Sunday.
Quique Da Costa began working in what is his restaurant El Poblet in 1988. Today he is recognised around the world for his artistic expression in the kitchen. He uses his culture, territory and way of life. On the other hand, Norbert Niederkofler is executive chef at St. Hubertus. The restaurant was awarded 3 Michelin stars in 2017. Norbert has been chef of the restaurant for over 20 years. His cuisine is based on a profound principle of respect for the rhythms of nature and the balance of the environment and those who live in it. In every dish, he tries to represent the mountains, the hard work of farmers and breeders, the quality of their products, traditions handed down, care, consistency & lightness.
At AIRrepublic, Nicolai Nørregaard will cook together with head chef Nicolas Misera and chef Joao Rodrigues of Portuguese restaurant Feitoria on Sunday and Monday.
Nicolai is head chef and co-owner of Kadeau Bornholm and Kadeau Copenhagen. He has no formal education as a chef, but learned how to cook from his grandfather. In 2007 he opened Kadeau Bornholm, and the Copenhagen restaurant followed in 2011. Both restaurants are based in the terroir of Bornholm, harnessing the unique conditions and flavors of the island. Kadeau currently holds two** Michelin for the Copenhagen restaurant and one* for the Bornholm restaurant.
The international chefs will also be part of the food line-up at the festival site.
This year’s festival will take place over two days unlike previous events that took place just on a Monday.
For this year’s edition the organisers are teaming up with the founders and creators of WECANDANCE, elrow Town Antwerp & Fire Is Gold: Wim Van der Borght & Bart Roman, CEO’s of Atmosphere Architects. WECANDANCE (Electronic beach festival in Zeebrugge) will provide the music line-up at FoodFest.
Last year, Syrco and Sergio decided to invite a selection of former colleagues who worked with them at Sergio’s restaurant Oud Sluis in Zeeland. They call them the ‘heroes of Oud Sluis’. Most of the chefs worked in some great restaurants in the Netherlands, Belgium and even further afield such as New York and Singapore among others.
