HONG KONG: Italian chef Antonia Klugmann is the next chef to cook at Tosca di Angelo at the Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong.
After the first four hands dinner with Valeria Piccini, it is the turn of Antonia Klugmann, one of the top Italian chefs in circulation to visit Hong Kong and cook with Italian chef Angelo Agliano.
Antonia Klugmann left her law studies to pursue a career in the culinary world and is known for her creative ingredients-based cuisine at her restaurant L’Argine a Venco in Italy on the border with Slovenia. She opened the restaurant in 2014 and gained a Michelin star a few months later.
This second instalment of the Gems and Pearl series is taking place on January 14 and 15. Guests can expect a menu honouring Antonia and Angelo’s respect for fresh seasonal ingredients.
This series is being curated by acclaimed food personalities Andrea Petrini and Florent Bonnefoy. Between November 2019 and September 2020, chef Angelo Agliano is inviting five prominent female chefs from Italy to work with him and craft unique Italian dishes. It provides the opportunity for people from Hong Kong to meet with high-calibre Italian chefs and savour their cooking first hand.
“When I was young, I lived with my mother and sisters back in Sicily. I used to think women were representations of finesse and gentleness. I never knew women could be so strong until I worked with a female restaurant director in Paris decades ago. Her passion and dedication to the kitchen and restaurant, not to mention the attention to detail totally blew my mind,” Angelo recalls. “I am thrilled to welcome these amazing women from my home country to take the helm of Tosca di Angelo with me, curating unforgettable gourmet experiences that are going to impress our discerned diners.”
The Festival will take guests you from the inner Tuscan countryside to the Italian-Slovenian border; from the family rituals of Emilia-Romagna to Milan, center stage of elegance and design; and to Salina Island, one of the best-kept gastronomic secrets in the Mediterranean.
“I am proud to present this phenomenal guest chef series at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. This is Tosca di Angelo’s first time ever bringing in such immense culinary talents. Without Angelo, the mastermind of this unique dining concept, and his talented team, this one-of-a-kind experience would not be possible,” says Pierre Perusset, General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong.
