Nick Bril, chef of The Jane in Antwerp has launched a private dining room in his office at the PAKT complex just a few metres away from the award winning restaurant.
The Dutch chef of The Jane who opened the restaurant together with Sergio Herman, who we worked with at Oud Sluis, told Food and Wine Gazette that the private dining room will give the restaurant and its team more flexibility to enjoy their work.
“It is great because it will give me the liberty to manage the reservations without the need to have it fully booked because the space also serves as my office and research area. It gives me the liberty to create or test a menu, to invite people and get their feedback,” he said.
PAKT is a new hotspot in Antwerp close to The Jane which houses all things creative, innovative and culinary. It is also includes a communal rooftop garden as well as the rooftop garden of The Jane which has been in use since last year.
Nick said that the space can also be used for product launches and very small business meetings. “It can be rented as a meeting location for a board meeting, as a meeting room. There is a butler who can prepare coffee, teas and it can also be combined with a lunch at the Jane. The beauty of the new private dining room is that it gives us a lot of freedom,” he said.
The Jane Table is a collaboration between the restaurant, The Jane, bulthaup ligna recta Antwerpen and Electrolux.
The first dinner was organised in December and it is officially set to launch towards the end of this month. “We served 12 people who are regular guests of our restaurant and cooked a different menu to what we serve at The Jane.”
“The idea started off as an office and I always wanted a kitchen in the office. It came together because the space was a bit bigger than we thought so we took the opportunity to create this space,” Nick said.
Nick has also announced the opening of a second restaurant in Antwerp. Read all the details here.
