There is nothing more quintessentially Belgian than the croquette de crevette or shrimp croquette. Any traditional Belgian restaurant including even gastronomic restaurants is likely to have it on its menu with a good ‘american’ or steak tartare and mussels with fries.
Now, lovers of this Belgian delicacy which is made with small shrimps that are common in the North Sea have a reference point.

Visit.Brussels held the first ever context at Comme Chez Soi, a two Michelin star restaurant that is considered to be one of the ‘mainstays’ of Brussels gastronomy. And the panel made up of culinary journalists was headed by Pierre Wynants, for many years rewarded with 3 Michelin stars at his restaurant Comme Chez Soi.

A call for participants was issued during the month of September via social media. To be eligible to participate in the contest, participants had to meet the following criteria: have a restaurant, cafeteria, counter, or food truck operating and located in the Brussels-Capital Region and offer house-made croquettes on their menu.
The 20 participants took over the kitchen of Comme chez soi to make their own versions of the shrimp croquettes. Points were allocated according to a number of common criteria like crunchiness, taste and the quality of the shrimps.
