Sergio Herman will open the second branch of Frites Atelier in Belgium in the city of Ghent on 25 October (tomorrow).
The Dutch chef said he was excited to open a Frites Atelier in Ghent. “Every time I come to this city, I taste the creativity and discover new things every time. In view of these developments and the growth of Frites Atelier, the choice of Ghent as the second branch in Belgium was obvious. The food scene in the city has changed a lot and Ghent and the city has a tendency to embrace new food concepts. I am really looking forward to it and hope that we can make a positive contribution to this cool city,” said Sergio on the occasion of the opening in Ghent.
The branch at the Groentemarkt, 20 in Ghent has more seats and offers a more extensive menu compared to the current Ateliers in the Netherlands and Antwerp. The building has 22 seats on the ground floor, 48 on the first floor and also a terrace with at least 35 seats.
Frites Atelier Gent offers more than just French fries with freshly made sauces. For this outlet, the former chef of three Michelin star restaurant Oud Sluis has created a classic Angus Beefburger as well as a vegan burger. On the menu is a chicken ceaser salad as well as a vegan green salad. Thanks to a collaboration between Frites Atelier and InBev, Belgian beers are available on draft including Hoegaarden, Stella Artois, Triple Karmeliet and Goose Island.
Next month, Frites Atelier will open the first branch in Brussels and this will be followed by more openings in the Belgian capital. Moreover, Sergio is looking into expanding the concept to Germany and France. He has commissioned research into big cities to find busy streets that could welcome such a food concept.
Sergio is also developing the concept so that it can work not just in permanent locations but also for private events and festivals. This should be launched by the end of this year.
Frites Atelier is a fries concept in which taste, craftsmanship, and personality are brought together. It is a fast food concept with an almost maniacal attention to detail and quality. Despite the great attention to quality, Frites Atelier is very accessible and has been a huge success in its current locations in The Hague, Arnhem, Utrecht, Antwerp. The new locations are Ghent and Brussels (opens at the end of November 2018). For more information about Frites Atelier, visit www.fritesatelier.com
